DMR lookup & ownership change
How to look up a vehicle in the Motor Register and handle the ownership change correctly after an auction purchase.
What is DMR?
DMR (Det Digitale Motorregister) is the Danish Tax Agency's official register of all Danish vehicles. It holds tax status, inspection history, ownership changes, fuel, weight and customs inspection status.
Look up a vehicle
- Go to motorregister.skat.dk.
- Choose "Køretøj" → "Slå et køretøj op".
- Enter the license plate or VIN.
Ownership change after auction
As the new owner you must:
- Log in to DMR with MitID.
- Confirm the transfer under "Anmeld ejer- eller brugerskifte".
- Get insurance before driving.
- Pay any green ownership tax.
